SSI Recipients: These Months Will Bring Double Payments in 2025

The Social Security Administration (SSA) normally sends SSI payments on the first of each month.

If that day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, the payment is sent earlier, often at the end of the previous month.

This ensures you receive your payment without delays, but it can feel confusing if you aren’t prepared.

What Happened in May 2025?

In May 2025, many SSI recipients received two payments:

  • May 1: Regular May payment

  • May 30: June payment sent early (since June 1 is a Sunday)

This pattern will happen again later in the year.

Months With Double SSI Payments in 2025

Here are the months to mark on your calendar:

  • August 1: August payment

  • August 29: September payment sent early

  • October 1: October payment

  • October 31: November payment sent early

  • December 1: December payment

  • December 31: January 2026 payment sent early

This means August, October, and December 2025 will have two SSI deposits while September, November, and January 2026 will have no payment since the deposit arrived early.

Why This Matters for Your Budget

For many SSI recipients, every payment is essential for covering rent, medication, and groceries.

Knowing when to expect a double payment helps you avoid confusion and overspending during the months with no deposit.

What SSI Covers

SSI supports:

  • People with total blindness or severe disabilities
